Jaida Kate - 7 Years of Love xox

Dear Jaida,

Today is your birthday, you turned 7.

In my eyes though, you are still my 'baby girl', my 'little princess.

'Your eyes sparkled this morning when you woke up, a heart felt smile spread across your face. You knew it was your special day, you were so alive and just shining brightly. We squeezed each other tight, me exchanging birthday wishes to you xox
I try to let you know as often as I can, how much you mean to me. All those years ago, I honestly believed that Caleb would be an only child, and suddenly, there you were, gracing our lives with your presence.

I found the entry I wrote to you when you were just "one", you can read it HERE A small snippet of it says:

A year ago, I held you in my arms and the love just burst into my heart. Your eyes gazed into mine, you snuggled against me and I knew that we were meant to be. You have brought so much joy and happiness into our lives. You are a complete marvel to us and each day brings yet another little trait of your personality shining through. We can't resist picking you up and smiling, kissing and cuddling, holding you close, our beautiful little princess.

Every day Miss Jaida, you still bring me so much love and vitality. You are my world, darling girl. A beautiful soul, sometimes too wise for your years. You never cease to amaze me with what you set out to do, conquering along the way. At times you are strong willed and stubborn (just like your father and I) but these traits will continue to mark your independence and carve out a successful and thriving future for you. As the saying goes - "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade". BOY, do you do this! I only wish I had had the confidence as a child that I see in you ... You are an inspiration to me!

You had a wonderful day today celebrating with some of your special friends, as you said "Gosh Mum, this birthday was absolutely STUNNING, I'll remember it forever!" So will I, the aura of happiness in our home today was certainly one to hold dear to my heart xox

Even though now you are fast asleep, the smile on your face reflected how much today has meant to you.

So Jaida Kate, just for you, here are 7 years of YOU ...

Love Mum xox

The Spooky Sixth Birthday Party

Caleb's lifelong childhood friend turned six recently and celebrated his special occasion with a Spooky Sixth Birthday Party. A new challenge for Mummy B, to source out some spooky costumes for Caleb and Jaida to wear to the grand celebration!

For Caleb, we had some quick recycling of a witch dress from my own childhood, and teamed with a new wizard hat, cloak and harry potter wand, Caleb was ready to cast magical spells upon all who dared cross his path. Jaida excited at the prospects of a being a "little witch" look glamorous in a witches' tutu and matching hat :)

Happy 3rd Birthday Little Princess

Another joyous day arrives upon us, January 4th and our Beautiful Little Princess enters her 3rd Year.

Happy 3rd Birthday Jaida Kate, dressed as only a little princess would and who enjoyed a delightful princess party with guests of royal princely friends coming bearing roses and kisses for their princess friend. I decorated our outdoor deck with pastel, shimmery balloons and created a princess chair with material and tulle for her royal sweetness to be head of the table.

Jaida decided that Dolly Varden was her chosen center piece for her Princess Party and her doting daddy created the perfect cake for his little darling.

Happy 5th Birthday Caleb James

Sunday 14th December 2008, marked the time that young Caleb James had been waiting for, his 5th birthday.

Such an exciting time in a young boys life, the time that marks an age old enough to start a brand new schooling journey, a time to say fond farewells to preschool friends and enter 5 year old boyhood! And more importantly a time to PARTY with SUPERHERO friends!!!!

Caleb's eager enthusiasm marked an early morning start that joyful Sunday, announcing to us that "today is my birthday, and i am 5!" Our beautiful boy celebrated the start of his day by receiving his very own remote controlled super hopper racing vehicle!

As with any anxious weather watching parents, the weekend of the 13th & 14th December marked unstable, stormy weather. I know that I (Meticulous Mummy) was anxiously watching those thundery clouds, wondering how an earth our humble home would survive the onslaught of 20 enthusiastic party goers coming to celebrate this marvelous milestone. We had already booked a jumping castle to entertain all those little superheroes, but forever organised, there needed to be a back up plan, so games of pin the spider on the web and batman entanglement were ready to go (for that just in case!) ...

What can I say, the sun peaked through the dark clouds, the party jump people arrived with oh savior of castles and the young superheroes had a wonderful morning jumping, leaping, bounding, running and enjoying a "sugar rush!" of party feast! I was so proud and impressed of this wonderful little group of preschool, daycare and other friends all playing eagerly together as one. A beautiful way to end a year and celebrate a special occasion! (it must be noted that the majority of Caleb's friends from PreSchool will be attending a different school, but he has had a wonderful year and created cherished little friendships of new and old.)

And once again, I bow and take my hat off to my devoted husband for his creation of the supreme birthday cake! Caleb requested the train cake from the traditional Woman's Weekly Cake Book and Casey rose to the challenge!

The Train Cake Masterpiece

Happy 5th Birthday Caleb James, with the sun fading upon pink skies, you have so much to look forward to and I know that already you are looking forward to and planning your 6th Birthday Fun! *hehehe*

Birthdays are made of this ...

Preparations are under way for Caleb's 5th Birthday!

Its' hard to believe that my baby boy is turning 5 this year! Caleb has been watching the calendar in great anticipation of his special day drawing near, of helping friends throughout 2008 celebrate turning 5 and patiently waiting for the day that "he is a BIG BOY" (as he refers to it!) ... There has been many occasions that he says "when I am 5, and I am a BIG BOY .. I will .." ... It will be interesting to see how many of these "when I ... I will .." will actually be followed through (laughs!)

I'm so proud of how my baby boy has grown up, there have been so many proud moments watching him accomplish certain milestones, of watching him leave the safety confines of his Mummy's arms and just leap into play and activity with other children. He is one also to quietly stand back at times and watch a situation before deciding how/when he will join in as well. From laughter to tears, Caleb also has a very sensitive side to him... At times he shows wisdom and understanding beyond his years, but underneath he is still my little boy at heart! (and sometimes I have to stop, stand back and remember that as well, for being the oldest sibling, sometimes we expect more of a boy of 5!)

For when Caleb turns 5 on December 14th, it will be a proud and joyous moment celebrated by those who enjoy a Good Time! Caleb has chosen to have a Super Hero Party, and we've hired a jumping castle for the day, so watch out boys and girls, fun is abrewing!

A look back at the life of 5 years gone by ...

Quite sweet but we never look back on what could have been,
we always look forward to what is coming!

Making Milestones - Jaida's 1st Birthday

For every parent, babies first year is an incredible whirl of many memorable moments, but none more so that that special birthday celebrating one entire year of life.

Our little Jaida Kate, known to many as sweet little Jaida cakes, marked her first birthday on January 4th, 2007.

Its' one of those days that makes you stop in your track and take the time to reflect on the year that has been and the way that such a special little person is brought into your lives.

We love the way your eyes just go wide and bright and your smile lights up the room, the way you shrug your shoulders up and down and giggle with delight. The way you snuggle into my shoulder with arms wrapped tight, kisses galore and that special little wave you give Daddy each day he goes to work. How you adore your big brother Caleb and how he reciprocates your love and charm.

Your little quirks make us laugh and smile and you are just so loved by everyone around you.
