Objects of Desire by Sandy Gervais

Sandy Gervais has created a beautiful material range through her "Objects of Desire" I simply used a few co-ordinating pieces to create a few more gorgeous aprons as presents for Christmas, but already I could envisage that this range of fabric would be delightful for all kinds of home-made pieces. To read more about Sandy, check out her blog PIECES FROM MY HEART

The Pink is actually quite bright (not dusty like the photo)

Fat Quarter Aprons

I've been on a bit of Apron Fetish of late, although sadly I must say they have all been given away as gifts (hard to part with I must be honest)

I came across the Apron in an hour tutorial which uses a fat quarter and a 1/2yard to make a sweet, delectable apron for swishing around the kitchen or hosting some friends! Now for you more advanced seamstresse's an hour would be plenty, but it took me a little longer! I don't have an overlocker, so used an overlocking maching stitch on all edges, as well as adding top stitching to the entire apron straps (I just don't think they'd maintain their lovely shape without it!) ..

Two of these were for very special Secret Santas, and the one with the Sandi Henderson' FQ was for Jaida's special PreSchool Assistant! ... Very easy pattern to follow! I look forward to finally making one or two for my own collection as well.

EB Sewing Secret Santa Opening Day!

Well it seems that while it "tis the season to be JOLLY!" I fell off the Advent Blog~a~long Bandwagon, but I am back and will work extra hard these last few days to blog~a~long with you all!

Advent Blog~A~Long Day #21 ..

Today marked the OPENING DAY for the EB Sewing Secret Santa!

Who doesn't enjoy getting a little something arriving via Express Post from their local Post Office in this Festive Season! Yes, I was overwhelmed with this parcel and it has sat adoringly, awaiting Opening Day!

Many MANY thanks to the wonderful person that has sewn for me, a very special talent lies within this mysterious giver!

I received a beautifully hand-made quilted table runner, it fits in beautifully with our 1930's Tasmanian Oak Table, but as soon as I saw it, I started yearning for a nice side-board or antique side table which would also suit the classic "warm" colours. Thank you Secret Santa, its' just gorgeous!

That wasn't all, JOY came forth in the form of a appliqued and embroidered tea towel, what a thoughtful design for this time of year! You know I would have never have thought to take such a lovely tea towel and add JOY to it as a beautiful gift (mental note to self for future giving) ... But how did you know I spend so much time in my Kitchen?? ... lol .. Its' just gorgeous!

I can't believe you didn't stop there, you have really spoilt me with a gorgeous little stocking full of lots of sewing goodies! .. I honestly was speechless by your thoughtfulness and generosity and I wish you the very best of TIDINGS and GOODWILL for this Christmas!

So thank you (whoever you were), trust that your special gifts have found a special home!

On the 14th Day of Christmas, My Big Boy turned 6

Advent~Blog~A~Long~Day#14

What an EXCITING morning it was this morning with young Caleb bouncing out of bed and proudly stating that after such a LONG wait (it does seem like that when your birthday is a the end of the year) that he was FINALLY 6 (just in time for Grade 1 too!) ...

I'm so proud of the BOY that Caleb is growing into, he's a delight and just such a COLOURFUL ENERGY in our lives! He did look puzzled though (and this was at 6:30am) when we told him that truthfully he wasn't really 6 until 11:13am, as that was the time he made his daring, and ENERGETIC grand entrance into this world! lol ...

He had the most AMAZING day any little boy could dream of on his Birthday. You see his beloved Prep Turtle Class was also having their end of year celebration at Squiggles (indoor play centre) and Jurassic Park (water park) ~ mind you that Caleb was also having his birthday party at the same venue after school (so he thought he was EXTRA SPECIAL for being able to visit TWICE in one day!) ..

Caleb having fun at Jurassic Water Park ...

A day of CELEBRATIONS, a day of FRIENDS, a day of JOY, what more could a little boy of 6 ask for! Of course he was totally spoiled by his family and friends with gifts, and I was so proud that he took the time to carefully unwrap, read cards and give thanks (with beautiful manners) for each gift he received! ..

The Number 6 cake, as chosen by Caleb himself :)

Happy 6th Birthday my BIG Prince Charming! You steps in your life are paving a grand pathway and Mummy and Daddy couldn't be any prouder of you Gorgeous Boy! ....

Knitted Nativity on the 11th Day of Christmas ...

Advent~Blog~A~long Day #11 ...

I took my camera to work today especially to get some perfect shots of the knitted nativity scenes that are spread around different areas of the school to celebrate the birth of Jesus' Christ as we move towards Christmas and that special spiritual time of year.

I had a feeling I had seen it somewhere before and looks as though it may have come from Jean Greenhowe's Christmas Special (28 pages) I am thinking that one of these sets for next year would be truly divine!

On the 10th Day of Christmas, we went to St Mary's ...

Advent~Blog~A~long Day #10 ...

This morning we went to the final end of year Junior Unit Liturgy for Caleb. It was a lovely morning, with the traditions of the Angels ringing their bells, the lighting of the Christmas Candles and the story of Jesus's birth. Of course no festive end of year celebration is without some traditional Caroling and enjoyment of Christmas Songs.

The "bond" between big brother and little sister ...

The Junior had spent some time artistically creating a nativity scene using collaging' techniques.

The entire P/1/2 Unit looked the part with their Christmas themed hats and costumes, what a lovely performance for the parents, and a fun way to end what has been such a successful year!

Caleb went adorned in his favourite elf costume and sang his little heart out, it was beautiful!

On the 9th Day of Christmas, my children gave to me ...

On the 8th of Christmas, Spotlight gave to me ...

Advent Blog~a~long Day #8

Ventured over to Shepparton today for a spot of shopping, and no trip is complete without a look through Spotlight to see what might catch my eye.

I had been wanting to try some of the pre-shirred material for Jaida, I chose the blue pattern with ladybirds, solely that I could take up the hem, some of the other designs, were very maxi-dress oriented right down to the ankle fashion, not quite right for my little tom boy "girl" .. lol ..

I was quite taken with the brown haired girl on green so brought some with the contrasting green floral print as well.

I did stand at the mermaids in the quilting section for quite some time ... Probably should have nabbed some, it was truly divine!
