Time Slips By

A "few" days late, I know! But my gorgeous boy is now 11 months and by some miraculous means I just happen to have a snapshot of Jaxon from the 1st October 2008.

I must confess that of late, as Jaxon's 1st Birthday milestone draws near, I've been self-indulging in reminiscent memories of my children as wee babies, no doubt, spurred by seeing many tiny newborns around of late. How can you resist ooohing and aaahing over sweet little babies in prams as they walk down the street, those tiny little hands and feet as their beloved parents protectively snuggle them into their shoulders! Then you turn and stare intently into the big, round eyes of your own children, drawn into their souls, and just feel a sense of overwhelming awe at the time that has gone by, witnessing them develop from a few cells, to babies, to toddlers, to preschoolers. Casey and I still just shake our heads in wonder at times, thinking, "WOW, these little people came from us!" ...

11 months of delight, of smiles, of milestones ... of memories!

There are so many things I love ...

I love opening the door to the nursery and seeing him fast asleep, his little head snuggled down on his cosy doona, his little toushy high in the air! I can't resist hearing his babbles of delight when he wakes and finding him standing or bouncing in his cot, investigating his world around him, then he turns and realises I'm there, his little eyes light up, a big smile illuminates his face, and he immediately has arms up high in the air "pick me up mummy!" ... A little face snuggles into your shoulder and arms wrap tight around your neck.

I love watching him explore, fast on his knees, and quick to his feet, climbing up onto things ~ Jaxon is here, Jaxon is there, Jaxon is everywhere! Pulling at the cupboard, opening the door, tapping on the window, Jaxon's home environment is one grand adventure! Little explorer who knows no fear ... however ... beware of silence! This little boy is quite the mischief maker too ...
Caught in the act many times, those big innocent eyes reflect .. "who me? couldn't be?"

I love when he crawls over to you and then with great confidence pulls himself up behind your legs to tag along. No desires to walk yet (and that doesn't worry me in the least.) young Jax has grown in confidence to try cruising around the solid foundations of our home ...

Wherever Caleb and Jaida are, you can guarantee that young Jaxon wont be far behind. He adores and watches intently his big brother and sister, earnestly trying to join in their playful games!

I love when he waves goodbye to his Daddy every morning, there is something so heartwarming about that little hand going up and down - we love waving here, hello, bye bye ... When his Daddy tucks him into bed each night, that little face looking back over a shoulder waving bye bye mummy, see you in the morning!

I love watching him enjoy the family table every night, a social occasion in our home, the sharing of fine food and conversing of the events of the day! Antics of humour, playful games, definitely what memories are made of.

There are many more things I love, in the heart of a parent, I'm sure you can note many more too that are fond to you!

My beautiful boy has 4 sharp teeth, 2 top and 2 top and has of late been nicknamed "fang" for his joyful glee of sinking those little razors into fleshy skin! OUCH! I really must weigh and see how big he has grown, a little boy who devours everything in sight with ravenous glee, but who also still holds great affection for his beloved boo boo! (sometimes too affectionate!)

I am still at a loss for the colour of his eyes, some days blue, others blue/green, they can be hazel or a mixture of blue/green/brown ... They can change many times throughout the day and may be more or less intent pending the colours of his clothes! I often joke that his eyes are like a mood ring, forever changing at any hour of the day! Beautiful, big eyes, none the less! Eyes that know how to light up and warm your heart.

I must get organising for his gala affair on the 1st November, you see we are baptising Jaxon into the Catholic Faith on his First Birthday. The 1st November at 11am will be a joyous occasion celebrated by family and close friends at St Aloysius Moama with Father Tink.

This will be a great milestone for young Jaxon Levi Bourke, noting that I came across the other day, that Jaxon means - God has been gracious: has shown favour. And indeed favour was shown when we were blessed with our final addition to complete our family.
