I completely agree!
This was the first time I've ever attempted any kind of "pant" for Jaida. I had recently seen some cute pants which inspired a bit of a search for something to try my hand at. How could I resist Pink Fig's "the Sweet HEART pants No.16" and what a versatile pattern, you could use a range of fabrics to create this gorgeous little pants for whatever season or occasion!
I was so impressed by the ease and simplicity of the pattern, this is the first time I've had to actively "trace" a pattern (yes I've always been lucky to have had those which you just photocopy, cut and paste together), and the instructions were so straight forward. Essentially trace, cut, join, embellish! I would definitely rate it as a great beginner project! So thank you Pink Fig!
While the design called for hearts on the knees or pockets on the sides, I decided hearts on the knees and a little elastic pocket on the back as well. Perhaps it was using the denim, something was just needed there. I cut 4 of the pocket so that the inner pocket fabric was lined as per the outside and I used a little elastic to gather it in (my first attempt at anything like that as well, and I did unpick and retry a few times there as well!) Fabric was some sparkled stretch denim and the contrast fabrics came from the Wild Thyme range by Carolyn Gavin / Lilla Rogers Studio.
My sweet little Jaida has not been blessed with long gracing legs. I made her a size 4, I do think I may need to pull the waist in just that little bit more (is her waist shrinking?) and she has a little room to grow taller, but it hasn't stopped her prancing and dancing around on tippy toe in her new sweet HEART pants.
Mum: "What do you like best about your new pants?"
Jaida: "I like them cos they got pockets and cute love hearts on the front of them
(insert little giggle here and big baby brown eyes looking up at me)"

Definitely a pattern we will be using again, and YES we're going to now order the Juliet Top #17 to complete the outfit!
So ... make sure you give them a go sometime, Sheena over at Bubbamia stocks both patterns (and some gorgeous fabric too) and pop back and let me know how your sweet HEART pants turn out.

They are gorgeous Mel.. Could see little Miss Ruby Two Shoes in a pair of those as well, hehehe
ooooh, they are gorgeous. I LOVE them. Now I want to make DD some. I love the colour combo.
These are fabulous!
I love tracing patterns, it is the print and stick together kind I struggle with.
Very sweet Mel - I love it when the girls want to wear pants I have made them - dresses and skirts are great but in winter pants are a bit of a necessity.
Love the poses! Very cute.
I'm not a fan of tracing patterns, either. Great to find a pattern that is worth thr trouble! Your girl looks super-cute, and it's great that she loves the pants, too.
Great pants! Just popped over to let you know that you were entioned in the Quilt Home newsletter as the link of the week, and get a $20 dollar gift certificate!!! Wahoo!!! Enjoy!
Blessings,
