My own little water nymphs

The oldest form of the mermaid in mermaid mythology is the goddess Atargatis from Syria. A famous statue of Atargatis shows her as a woman from the waist up and a fish from there down. All sea goddesses inherit the sea's qualities. Just as the sea could be gentle and nurturing or violent and deadly, so could they. These are the same contradictory qualities we see in mermaids to this day: beautiful, cruel, tender, loving, destroying, etc. In a larger sense this is man's view of nature. The mermaid, a fantastic creature, is nature herself.

Where does this mythology fit within my own home, well with my little bath dwellers, you could say that as they step over the realm of the porcelin edge, their human form atunes to that of the water loving kind ... Its' Bath time ... a little world of magic tucked away in our own abode.

Bath time is a pretty special time in our home. That time to wind down, relax and start the bed time journey!

But bath time is also a little bit "fun" "crazy" "inquisitive" and always filled with moments that can be captured in time. Its' a time that reflects love, smiles and harmony ... Quality time with mum or dad and always a little mischief making in there too! All essence of magic!

Jaida and Jaxon especially have always had such an infinity with the water, reminiscent of the days of the mermaid/merman kind! The two are kindred and enjoy spending hours immersed in the soft, still water. No doubt attributed to their entrance into this world :)

Caleb always took a little longer to warm to the bath, but now enjoys nothing more than laying on his back, floating and being carried away by the harmony of boy and water at one with each other.

Caleb at the same age Jaxon is now, enjoying his bubbalicious bath!

Other reminiscent shots of Caleb from bath time

Jaida ~ Not as effervescent when it comes to the camera around the bath, but just as sweet!

And Jaxon from whom my inspiration was drawn to reminisce of all the loving moments we've had in our household when it has come to bath time!

Recall the days of childhood the next time you slip into a long soak in the bath!

Signing off ... Mel xox
