I'm working on a special project for a friend, I can't give a sneak peek because today is her birthday and I'm still sewing ... making sure its' perfected! I was really hoping to have it finished in time, but as you know it can be such a delicate juggle between home/work/life, that I'm still sewing ... I'm very proud of what I have accomplished thus far, but you will have to stay tuned for the final product.
Instead of a sneak peek, I thought I'd share some photos from another project that I worked on, except its' not from my point of view, its' from Jaida's point of view. Is this the beginning of a love of sewing for her at the tender age of 3 1/2yrs? Maybe ... Maybe Not .. lol
Jaida enjoys emulating Mummy in her various forms, whether that be cleaning (a frequence occurence), cooking, home corner dress ups, baby cino's or sewing. I have a large scrap fabric bag now, so when I sit at the table to plan and sew, Jaida takes her bag out, her scissors and sits with me, enjoying the creative feel of fabric herself.
I wonder if when she's older she will relish these special childhood memories that we had together. If she does sew when she's older, will she remember those days that she and I sat together at the table, her cutting material and me pinning it (she pins too (lol)) ? Will she remember the two of us sitting side by side on the piano stool at the sewing machine, looking out into the front garden, streaks of sunshine coming in through the windows while we work together? Will she remember the joys that completing a project brings, that feeling of pride, accomplishment, satisfaction? Will she remember all the cute little clothes that Mummy has made and will continue to make to brighten up her wardrobe on even the most overcast and dismal day? Ahhhh.. there is nothing quite like childhood memories, I know I love reflecting and reminiscing on mine and no doubt some of the creativity I'm finding now has come from my own mother, who was a very talented and dedicated seamstress herself :)
As you can see, she gets the same look of concentration as she works as me!
