Transforming Caleb into Aladdin - he can show you the world!

I have had to put my sewing to the test this week in creating an Aladdin costume for Caleb's alphabet parade this coming Wednesday. Obviously Caleb has been allocated the letter Aa and after much deliberation and brainstorming (and falling in love with the Aladdin movie), Caleb has decided that Aladdin would be very befitting for the letter Aa. And of course, he would like to add Prince Ali' to his list of costumes as well!!!

I've been having some sewing "mojo" over the weekend creating numerous bags for the EB challenge, its' been hard resisting the urge to "blog" about them, but I will have to refrain until opening day *hehe* ... a snap shot would be too much of a give away if my swapee were to peruase here LOL Swapee my bag has had my heart and soul poured into it for you, I feel very proud of what I have accomplished as a beginner sewer with the bag challenge.

Onto Aladdin - I spent a lot of time googling, hoping and praying that the "ready" made "free" pattern may be out there for me to utilise, but with no such luck, out came Caleb's pyjama pants and after a discussion with my wonderful mum "thanks mum!" his pj pants were pinned down and a kind of aladdin "balloon style pant" created from them, then allowances were made for elastics, and it kind of came together as below ...

The pants are cut out ...





Finished product, the waist and bottoms have elastic and are top stitched too ..

Ok, as promised, the finished product ready for the parade tomorrow! Many thanks to my mum who came over this afternoon to help draft a simple vest pattern off one of my childhood vests. It was tricky (for me anyway) but we got there in the end. The sash around Caleb's waist is fastened simply with applique'
